Jackie Robinson is honored and throws out the first pitch. Many of his family, teammates and friends join Jackie on the field. Robinson speaks to the country for 65 seconds proclaiming that he would love to see one day a black manager in the major leagues. Robinson would pass away nine days later, October 24, 1972, at the age of 53. Announcers are Curt Gowdy and Al Michaels. Includes post-game show and football scoreboard with Pat Hearn and Dick Schapp.

Steve Neff defeated Cliff McNealy 212-190 in the final match to win the $14,000 first prize in the $100,000 Rolaids Open at the Dick Weber Lanes in Florissant, Missouri. Former heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali meets Leon Spinks for the second time in his career at the New Orleans Superdome. Ali, who lost his title to Spinks on February 15th, 1978, came back in this fight to regain the heavyweight championship for the third time in his career, via a unanimous decision. He became the first boxer to win the heavyweight title three times. Ali retired after this fight only to come out of retirement for a brief comeback two years later.1979-10-16, ABC, min.
