The special program features the first Daytime Emmy Awards presentation, broadcast live from New York's Rockefeller Center. Performers include Mary Stuart and Bill Hayes. Set in the town of Salem, this serial was built around the Horton family - Tom & Alice, their five children, assorted grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Macdonald Carey played the role of Dr. Tom Horton until his death in March 1994.
