President Johnson reports on his Honolulu conference with General William Westmoreland and South Vietnamese President Nguyen Cao Ky. He arrives in Los Angeles, California to opposition protest approving of the Vietnam war and is greeted by vice president Hubert Humphrey.

Bill Stout, Harry Reasoner, Walter Cronkite, and Marvin Kalb report for CBS news. Herbert Kaplow and Ray Shearer report for NBC. In a round table discussion, President Johnson meets with members of the press for a discussion about the war, and the present USA status.                        

This is a journey back to the roots of our popular music, exploring some of the diverse sources that have contributed to the type of song now dominating the music industry. 
To show something of the past, producer Stephen Fleischman's cameras visit Preservation Hall in New Orleans, where some "elder statesmen" still come to play the kind of jazz performed at the turn of the century. Films of singers at the Morning Star Baptist Church and of the Supremes in a recording session illustrate the relationship between the two groups; responsive singing and heavenly accented rhythms. We also see The Grand Ole Opry of Nashville, Tennessee, the most famous showcase for Country and Western music, which originated with America's early Scottish, English, and Irish immigrants.

The launching of the Gemini VIII spacecraft, the sixth manned American spaceflight in Nasa's Gemini program. From Cape Canaveral, Florida. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and David Scott are aboard.        

  Live CBS, NBC and briefly ABC television coverage of the Gemini 8 spaceflight, the sixth crewed spaceflight in NASA's Gemini program. It was launched on March 16, 1966, and was the 14th crewed American flight and the 22nd crewed spaceflight overall. The mission conducted the first docking of two spacecraft in orbit, but also suffered the first critical in-space system failure of a U.S. spacecraft which threatened the lives of the astronauts and required an immediate abort of the mission seven hours of launching during its 7th orbit, and 3rd zone of the mission.

The crew consisting of Neil Armstrong, David Scott came back to Earth unscathed.
